Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: email address and/or phone number, your password (stored hashed), and the codes we send to verify them.
• Profile: first name, age, category (Woman, Man, Ladyboy / Trans / Gay), who you want to meet, bio, prompts, languages and other details you choose to add.
• Photos you upload, and verification selfies you take so a person on our team can confirm your photos are really you.
• Location: where you live, where you're from and trips you add, plus your approximate location if you tap “Near me”.
• Messages you send and receive, and your likes, blocks and reports.
• Device and network: IP address, browser and device information, time zone and activity times, used for security, fraud and VPN checks.
• Payments: when paid plans launch, our payment provider handles your card. We receive the plan, status and billing dates, not your full card number.

Why we use it

• To run Kerina: show your profile to people you could meet, deliver messages, and apply your settings and daily limits.
• To keep members safe: verify accounts and photos, detect scams, spam and solicitation, and review reports and appeals.
• To send verification codes, account emails, and the reminders you can switch off in Settings.
• To translate a message when you ask, and to fix problems and improve the service.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use your messages for advertising.

What other members see

Members you could meet see your profile, photos and the city you're in. On the map, pins are approximate: each pin is moved by roughly 1–3 km so nobody can see where you actually are. Your email, phone number and exact location are never shown.

Service providers

A small number of providers process data for us under contract:

• DigitalOcean: hosting and storage for the app, database and photos.
• Resend: sending email (verification codes, account and reminder emails).
• Twilio: sending phone verification codes by SMS or WhatsApp.
• Google Cloud Translation: translating a message when you choose to translate it, and safety checks on messages written in other languages.
• Google Cloud Vision: checking profile photos for sexual content and whether the same photo appears elsewhere on the internet (to catch stolen photos).
• Stripe: processing payments for paid plans.

Some of these providers are in other countries. We share only what each one needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, photos and messages within 30 days, except limited records we must keep longer for safety, fraud prevention or legal reasons, such as records of bans, reports and payments.

Your rights and choices

Under the Philippines Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), and similar laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California, you can, depending on where you live:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that's wrong (most of it you can edit yourself in the app).
• Ask us to delete your account and information.
• Object to or limit certain uses, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.
• Complain to your data protection authority (in the Philippines, the National Privacy Commission).

To make a request, email support@kerina.app from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, limited staff access and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Age

Kerina is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we remove such accounts.
